DEC 2021: BE HERE NOW

Posted on

Time. This might be too personal but as Mary Oliver wrote “I don't know why, and yet, why not?”

I lost my beautiful friend to the blue sky the clouds the mountains. And now I see him everywhere. Each time my heart fills, and some of the time tears well. Tears that just spring into being and travel up through your torso and then overflow into your physical self. Just how that feels. I’ve had insta-glimmers of the present moment, a blessing and a boon that his passing has bestowed on me. They are there like a flash of lightning seen from the corner of your eye. You look and it’s gone.

Robert left this earth on 11/11/2021. A true warrior, an alchemistic & joyous soul. He never stopped creating, was always transforming. If ever there was a vessel through which love and inspiration flowed it was through Robert. It entered, he did his magic, and then he passed it on, gave it away, shared it freely. ‘ABUNDANZA!’ he would roar. The more you give the more you get. Eternal boundlessness love. His light was deep and bright. ✨

‘It’s cold. I’ll ride over, in my dirtiest white jeans with no socks and not nearly enough clothes. We’ll take a ride to the West Side and then go to Natori and eat Goma Ae, Age Dashi Tofu, Avo-tuna salad, and Shumai. It’ll be so good, we’ll eat it all twice. We’ll drink shitloads of hot Sake and smoke endless cigarettes. Time? It’s all time. ‘Life takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth’ David Bowie

Anyways. Life is life. I am I, you are you, we are we. It’s all so slippery and illusive and yet so frigging real. Life will not be the same without him in it.

On the work front... 2021 has seen my already long lead time morph into a REALLY LONG lead time, but we’ve been working hard to stock the studio shelves with work that is readily available. You can see it all HERE. If you have a date request for holiday delivery, please email us and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

I’ve made lots of new work these last couple of years, including Stash Jars, Ashtrays, Sunrise Wall Hangings, Taper Vessels, Rock Vessels. The newest paint options ‘Ode to Hilma’ mountain prism & Circumambulation Rings were difficult to execute successfully for production, but I think we’ve finally found our flow with them. So they are both now more readily available and I love them both so much.

There are also some current charitable pieces available:

A 3.5’ x 4.5’ White Disc wall hanging, on a bevelled white oak bar & iron wall mounts. Purchase price is $5040, starting bid is $1000. All proceeds benefit Every Mother Counts, who work to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for everyone, everywhere. Up for bidding on Sotheby’s site, it closes Dec. 12^th, 2021.

This 4 disc wall hanging of constellations- Orion, The Big Dipper, Aquila & Cassiopeia. Dec 6th at noon EST. All funds will benefit Public Ceramics- 'dedicated to creating a thriving arts community in New York that includes adults and children from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We believe that creative growth requires inclusive, welcoming spaces, and by providing need-based fellowships and free public programs, we hope to make ceramics education more accessible'.

And ongoing- Two single strand PLT’s available for purchase. One to benefit Seeding Sovereighty, and the other Every Mother Counts. Link to them here.

And lastly, I wish everyone a beautiful end to the year. Stay safe. Love yourself. Be here now.

Till next time, Michele

PS. Speaking of TIME & being here now, I bought myself this clock and I love it...
