I hit the pavement to do some studio visits in LA (and the trail) after the Esqueleto event.
First stop, Rule of Three. I met Paige at the NYNow show in NYC. We were booth neighbors. She makes beautiful fabrics in huge vats using an ancient technique of floating and marbling highly pigmented paints on a liquid surface.

2nd Stop, Block Shop Textiles. I met Hopie & Lily Stockman doing a pop-up at the El Cosmico Trans-Peco Festival in Marfa, Texas.

Stop 3, Polly Wales. I also met Polly at the NYNow trade show and was introduced to her via the store Twist in Portland. Polly's jewelry process of casting precious stones into gold was groundbreaking and absolutely gorgeous. After 12 years of making jewelry I suddenly wanted more.

4th stop, Heather Levine. I kind of think of Heather as my west coast doppelganger. Not really, but we both started making wall hangings at the same time, and we both came to making them out of scraps of clay from other works.

5th stop, Kat & Roger. Very loved ceramicists! I had never met them before and they were lovely and gracious to let me visit their shop & studio.

6th Stop, Victoria Morris studio. I met Victoria via Lawson-Fenning where she sells her ceramic lamps and vessels. She also was a friend of Robert Lewis, and one of my oldest friends from NYC who is next on the trail.

Last stop, Robert Lewis. One of my oldest and dearest friends from NYC in the 80's. A constant in my life and a true artist. I spent lots of time at his studio, hiking, eating, talking, living.
