I learned of the matte white surface in my work at Greenwich House Pottery. The white would sometimes be too thin and streaky, or too thick and flake off. But you only knew how it would look after it was made, painted and fired, so it was frustrating to get to the end only to have it not work out. It took quite a few years of testing to achieve a consistent result in a process that has so many wild cards. And now, the white stone-like surface has become a perfect canvas for all the rainbow colors, black lines, and sparkly stars that I love so much ✨
This spring...we are bringing in a new clay body, Tucker, to the studio.
